Naugatuck Man Charged With Strangulation: Police

The accused was released on a $5,000 bond.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Naugatuck man was released after posting a $5,000 bond after police say he is accused of grabbing the victim by the neck. On July 6 at 10:10 p.m., police responded to a residence on a report of a domestic dispute.

It was discovered through the investigation that Giovanni Ortiz, 29, of Counselor Drive, became involved in an argument with the victim that escalated and became physical when, according to a witness, the accused grabbed the victim by the neck and squeezed, police said.

Ortiz is charged with third-degree strangulation and disorderly conduct.
