Naugatuck Man Comforts Dog Stuck on Roof, Successfully Rescues the Pooch

The man helped animal control coach the dog back down to the ground Sunday morning.

A borough man successfully rescued a dog that found itself on a roof.

Chris Palermo, a long time Naugatuck resident, was on his way to the gym and had just pulled in at Mountain View Plaza Sunday morning when he saw the dog on top of the roof of the complex.

Palermo called Animal Control at 8 a.m. but he wasn’t sure when they would get there as it was Sunday morning. Wondering how the dog got up there, Palermo drove to the back of the building and saw an open gate with a staircase leading to the roof.

The animal control officer along with Palermo coached the dog till it was able to climb back down the stairs.

“When I reached the dog it had this look that said thank God you’re here,” Palermo said.

Being a dog owner himself, Palermo felt that the dog really wanted someone to help it out and so he stuck around. His efforts paid off as the dog successfully made its way down the roof.
