Naugatuck Man Fails To Show Up To Court on Drug Charges: Police

The accused was found to be in possession of heroin and crack cocaine earlier this year in Milford, police say.

MILFORD, CT β€” On March 30, Taron Stokes, 39, of Rubber Avenue in Naugatuck was arrested by Milford Police for possessing heroin and crack cocaine inside of a vehicle that was stopped in the city, police at the time said.

And on Wednesday, Milford Police say Stokes failed to show up to court on July 15 concerning the charges from the March 30th incident in Milford. Stokes is charged with first-degree failure to appear and was ordered held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, police say.

On March 30, the Police Department's TAC Unit was conducting anti-crime patrol in the area of Boston Post Road and Red Bush Lane. Police said after officers saw 'suspicious activity' they stopped a vehicle.

The driver was found to be in possession of an amount of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle and the passenger, Stokes, resulted in the seizure of heroin and crack cocaine pre-packaged for sale, police said.

Stokes at the time was charged with possession of narcotics and possession with intent to sell.
