Naugatuck Man Sentenced To 35 Years In Prison: Report

The man was found guilty by a jury of sexual assault.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” James Aho, 41, of Naugatuck, received a 35-year prison sentence recently after a jury found him guilty of first and second-degree sexual assault, strangulation and illegal sexual contact, the Republican-American reports.

The allegations against Aho surfaced at his wedding reception in 2018 which led to a fight, according to reports including the Rep-Am. Aho was then shot by his new father-in-law in Prospect, the Rep-Am reports.

According to online court records, a jury found Aho guilty of various charges on October 29, 2019 and he was sentenced on Jan. 7, 2020. He was originally arrested on October 4, 2018.

When Aho was arrested back in 2018, Naugatuck Police said, "Police arrested a ... man who is accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile victim who is known to him." No other details were released.

Aho is no longer married and his former father-in-law wasn't charged, the Rep-Am reports.
