Naugatuck Police Blotter: Feb. 17-20

The following information was provided by the public information officer at the Naugatuck Police Department. They are allegations until proven otherwise in a court of law.

PD:PARKING DISPUTE ENDS IN ASSAULT
Kala Blankenship, 23, 511 North Main St., Naugatuck, was charged with third-degree assault on Feb. 20 after police responded to North Main Street. According to police, Blankenship got into an argument about a parking issue and then lunged at a victim, grabbing him by his neck. The victim sustained scratches to his neck. Blankenship was released on a $1,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 29.

DUI CHARGE ON NEW HAVEN ROAD
Luiz Polanski, 20, 785 Washington Road, Woodbury, was charged with driving under the influence and a failure to drive in the proper lane after police pulled him over at 2:25 a.m. on Feb. 17 on New Haven Road. Polanski was released on a $1,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 23.

WORK PLACE THREATENING COMPLAINT ENDS IN ARREST
Ricky Sherburne, 39, 148 Brightwood Ave., Torrington, was charged with a breach of peace after police responded to a threatening complaint at 93 Rado Drive, the location of at Ram Specialty Manufacturing, on Feb. 17. Sherburne had just been laid off and, while upset, made a threat at the work place that he would “take care of everything with his .45,” police said. Police determined the accused didn’t own or have access to any firearms. He was released on a promise to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 29.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT CHARGE
Israel Caez, 18, 18 Meadow Court, Naugatuck, was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer on Feb. 17. No further information was available.

VIOLATION CHARGE ENDS IN ARREST
Hailey Scrivener, 18, 20 Washington St., Naugatuck, was charged with a criminal violation of a protective order on Feb. 17 after police said the accused went to the victim’s home requesting to get property of hers. Police determined she was violating a protective order put into place by a court judge. Scrivener was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 21.

PAIR ARRESTED FOLLOWING FIGHT
Sarah Thornton, 19, 106 Straitsville Road, Prospect, and Angela Boutote, 19, 12 Maybury Circle, Waterbury, were both charged with a breach of peace after police said they got into an argument that turned physical at the Cumberland Farms on North Main Street in Naugatuck. According to police, Boutote was arguing with her ex-boyfriend at the store and Thornton, who was in her car, got out and began fighting with Boutote. Both young women were released on $500 non-surety bonds. Thorton is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 29 and Boutote is due in court on Feb. 21.

MAN CHARGED WITH SELLING MARIJUANA
Kenneth Kozak, 21, 363 Homestead Ave., Waterbury, was charged with use of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, illegal sale of a controlled substance and possession in a school zone after police pulled him over on Cherry Street and determined he was in possession of marijuana and two scales. Kozak was released on a $1,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 29.

PD: WOMAN GAVE COP FRIEND’S NAME IN MV STOP
Niema Parker, 21, 10 Virginia Ave., Danbury, was charged with criminal impersonation on Feb. 19 after police pulled her over on South Main Street. During the stop, police said Parker identified herself by another name, who was her friend. Parker was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 29.

DUI CHARGE FOLLOWING MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT
Charles Perkins, 55, 133 Norh Street, Seymour, was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license after police responded to a motorcycle accident on New Haven Road at 5:48 p.m. on Feb. 29. When police got to the scene, they saw Perkins trying to get back onto the motorcycle. He was not injured. Perkins was released on a bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 1.

DISTURBANCE ENDS IN ARREST
Vincent Coviello, 41, was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct and Stacy Francoeur, 40, was charged with disorderly conduct after police responded to their 266 North Main Street home on Feb. 19 for a report of a fight between a husband and wife. Both sustained injuries. Coviello was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and Francoeur was released on a $500 non-surety bond. Both of the accused are due in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 21.

AFTER GIVING A LIFT, SUSPECT DRIVES OFF WITH POSSESSIONS
Michael Valie, 27, 202 Crest St., Waterbury, was charged with fourth-degree larceny and driving with a suspended license after police responded to Cumberland Farms on North Main Street at 12:55 a.m. on Feb. 20. According to police, Valie gave a victim a ride to the gas station and, when he got out of his car, the suspect drove away with the victim’s PlayStation, iPod and clothes which were still in the car. The suspect was located a short while later on Highland Avenue. He was held on a $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 21.
