Naugatuck Police Dept. Extend Closure of River Access
The River Access on Platts Mill Road will be closed this weekend again.

Pictured above: On Friday July 18, 2019 at about 4:00 PM Naugatuck Police were contacted by WFSB - Channel 3 Eyewitness News who were filming a news story about the ongoing issues with illegal dumping at the Naugatuck River Access area on Platts Mill Road. It was at that time that the news channel observed a suspect, subsequently identified as Philip Donofrio (Age 42) of 23 Holbrook Road, Seymour, Ct throwing various household items down the embankment toward the Naugatuck River. Footage of this incident was submitted to Naugatuck Police who identified the suspect from a Home Depot truck rental. Additionally, during this investigation the suspect was found to be in possession of heroin.
Naugatuck, CT - The River Access on Platts Mill Road will be closed this weekend again. The public can anticipate increased police patrols and enforcement of all areas adjacent to the Naugatuck River in the Borough of Naugatuck.

Please be mindful that parking in restricted areas and attempts to access the river from these Borough owned points may result in enforcement action.
The Naugatuck Police Department continues to maintain its commitment to preservation of the Naugatuck River through a combination of partnerships with the community and enforcement efforts toward those who would damage the river through littering and dumping.
