Naugatuck, CT - The Naugatuck Police Explorer Program sent 4 cadets to the police explorer academy at Westfield College in Massachusetts last week. The program is a fully immersive experience that allows these cadets to experience the training required to become a police officer. Cadets received presentations from the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, UMass Amherst Mounted Unit, firearms training, and a curriculum reflective of the training that officers receive in training across the country. They also received presentations from the Air Force and National Guard. One photo shows their morning formations which were held at the beginning and end of every day. Naugatuck's cadets had attended last year and are in a more advanced Phase 2 of the program. The program is sponsored by NEERLA, which is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America and emphasizes leadership. Congratulations to the cadets who gave up a week of their summer to participate. Also, Det. Aaron Borys (not pictured) and Ofc. Jake Pinho (in graduation photo) for accompanying the cadets and serving as mentors in the program.

I encourage our followers to check out Cadet Police Academy for more footage and photos of the program as it is truly an impressive program that these young adults had the privilege to participate in.
