NAUGATUCK, CT — The Naugatuck Police Department held its award ceremony Wednesday covering 2022-2024 calls for service "that honored the courage, dedication and exceptional service of our officers."

According to the department's Facebook page, this year's awards were presented as follows:

Medal for Meritorious Service – Five recipients recognized for perseverance, judgment, and alertness in difficult tasks that protected life, recovered property, prevented or solved major crimes, or led to the apprehension of dangerous individuals.

Life-Saving Medal – Four recipients honored for saving, or making a valiant attempt to save, another person's life.

Medal for Outstanding Service – Nine recipients awarded for complex investigations, exceptional skill, ingenuity, and excellence in serving the public over time.

Unit Citations – Forty-nine employees recognized for their collective effort and teamwork in providing outstanding service to the community.

"These awards reflect the unwavering commitment of the men and women of the Naugatuck Police Department, who continually rise to the highest standards of courage, service, and professionalism," police wrote on Facebook. "We thank them for their service and dedication to keeping our community safe! Congrats to all!"
