Naugatuck Police Officer Promoted To Sergeant

A Naugatuck police officer who began his law enforcement career in 2014 was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A longtime Naugatuck police officer was promoted to the rank of sergeant Tuesday, according to the department.

In a Facebook post, police said Jeffrey Luis began his law enforcement career in 2014 with the New Haven Police Department before joining the Naugatuck Police Department in 2019.

Luis has served as a field training officer, a crisis intervention certified officer, an FAA-certified drone operator, a member of the United States Marshals' Violent Fugitive Task Force and a certified instructor who teaches de-escalation, according to the department.

"I am proud to have served the borough of Naugatuck for the past six years," Luis said in a message shared to Facebook, "and I look forward to continuing that service in a sergeant capacity. I will lead by example, support the officers under my supervision and strengthen the trust between our department and the community we serve."

Department officials also noted they looked forward to Luis' "continued dedication and positive impact within the department and in the community" in his new role.
