Naugatuck Police Arrest Suspect for Littering
The accused was released on a $1,000 bond and will appear at Waterbury Superior Court on July 31, 2019.

Naugatuck, CT - On Friday July 18, 2019 at 4 p.m. Naugatuck Police were contacted by WFSB - Channel 3 Eyewitness News who were filming a news story about the ongoing issues with illegal dumping at the Naugatuck River Access area on Platts Mill Road.
It was at that time that the news channel saw a suspect, subsequently identified as Philip Donofrio, 42, of Holbrook Road in Seymour, throwing various household items down the embankment toward the Naugatuck River, police said.
Footage of this incident was submitted to Naugatuck Police who identified the suspect from a Home Depot truck rental, police said. Additionally, during this investigation the suspect was found to be in possession of heroin, police said.

The accused was cited for the following offenses:
Littering on Public Land
Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The accused was released on a $1,000 bond and will appear at Waterbury Superior Court on July 31.

"We thank the public for their assistance in protecting this sensitive area of the Naugatuck River. The Naugatuck Police Department remains receptive to feedback on ways in which we can continue to help make our community cleaner and safer together," police said in a news release.
