Both sides called the agreement a fair deal.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” Naugatuck and its police union have agreed to a new four year contract, which includes 2 percent raises for each of the first three years and then a 2.25 percent hike in the last year, the Republican-American reports.

New costs to taxpayers as a result of the agreement is about $325,000 over the life of the contract, the Rep-Am reports. Mayor Pete Hess said it's vital that the borough attract and maintain its officers.

Both town and police union leaders say the deal included compromises on both sides and called it a fair deal.
