Naugatuck Public Schools Announces 2026 Paraeducator Of The Year

NAUGATUCK, CT — Naugatuck Public Schools recently announced Amber Munley has been named the district's 2026 Paraeducator of the Year.

In an announcement posted to Facebook, district officials said Tuesday that Munley, a paraeducator at Andrew Avenue Elementary School, is recognized for her "unwavering dedication to students, her compassion and her extraordinary ability to support students with complex social, emotional, behavioral and academic needs."

According to the district, Munley approaches each day with patience, consistency, humor and heart while helping students feel safe, valued and capable of success.

"Colleagues consistently describe Amber as proactive, dependable and deeply invested in the success and well-being of students," the district's post reads. "She brings positivity, flexibility, compassion and humor to her work each day and is known for building strong relationships with both students and staff. Her steady presence and genuine care make a lasting impact on the entire school community."

Munley's commitment to education also extends beyond the school day, according to the district.

"While working full time and raising a family, she is pursuing her degree in special education with the goal of continuing to make a difference in the lives of students as a special education teacher," the post reads.

According to the district, Munley's work "exemplifies the very best of Naugatuck Public Schools and our shared commitment to helping every student Learn. Thrive. Belong."
