Naugatuck Public Schools has announced a local educator as the district's 2026 Teacher of the Year.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A local educator has been named the 2026 Naugatuck Public Schools Teacher of the Year, the district announced Monday.

In a Facebook post, district officials announced Jennifer Stone, a physical education teacher at Naugatuck High School, as the 2026 Teacher of the Year.

According to the district's post, Stone has dedicated more than 20 years to education and has served Naugatuck Public Schools in many meaningful ways, including as a physical education teacher, assistant athletic director, administrative intern, mentor, advisor and community leader.

District officials also noted her impact reaches far beyond the walls of the classroom.

"Jen's commitment to inclusion is also evident in her work with Unified Physical Education and Unified Sports," the district's post reads. "She has helped strengthen opportunities for students of all abilities to participate, lead, build friendships and experience the pride of being part of the Greyhound community."

According to the district, Stone's teaching philosophy is grounded in creating safe, inclusive and joyful learning experiences for all students.

"She believes in helping students build confidence, resilience, teamwork and a lifelong connection to health and wellness," the post reads. "Her work reflects the very best of Naugatuck Public Schools and our shared commitment to helping every student Learn. Thrive. Belong."
