Naugatuck Resident Wakes Up, Finds Stranger Sleeping on Couch: Police

BREAKING: Police stress that the victim and the accused don't know one another.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Sometimes noises wake us up in the middle of the night, but it's not often when we're awoken to find a stranger lying on our couch.

Well that exact situation occurred in Naugatuck, police said. Police said at 12:11 a.m. on Jan. 9 officers responded to a suspicious person complaint.

Christopher Hepp, 32, of Cold Spring Circle, entered the victim's house without permission, police said. The victim woke up to noises of Hepp in their home, police said.

He was found lying on the victim's couch, police said. The victim and Hepp did not know one another, police said.

He was charged with second-degree burglary, disorderly conduct and first-degree criminal trespass.

Hepp was given a $10,000 bond.
