Police stress that there is no threat to students and that the lockdown has been lifted.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Police investigated a complaint of gunshots heard in the area of Longview Terrace near Maple Hill School, Police Lt. Bryan Cammarata said Wednesday afternoon.
There was a lockdown at the school. The lockdown has been lifted, police said. Cammarata stressed that the lockdown was issued strictly as a precautionary measure. He said at 12:12 p.m. police received reports of shots fired near the water company property, which he said is not completely uncommon as some folks will hunt in that area.
He said officers are still searching the area but police say there is no danger to the school and the lockdown was lifted. Police will continue to investigate.
