Superintendent Sharon Locke communicated the closure on Thursday evening.

Naugatuck, CT - Here is the text from the call made by Superintendent Sharon Locke on Thursday evening.

This is Superintendent Locke calling to inform you that we have decided to close school beginning tomorrow, Friday, March 13, 2020. Although there are no reported cases of coronavirus in Naugatuck at this time, I have heard concerns regarding potential exposure and am closing schools as a precautionary measure in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus. At this time, we are announcing a closure through March 27, 2020. We are treating this closure like “snow-days” and we will make these days up at the end of the school year.

The graduation date of June 11th will not be affected by the closure.

During this shutdown, we will be extensively cleaning our schools and preparing to welcome our students back when it is appropriate to do so. We will be communicating with you throughout the coming weeks with updates as they become available.

We are very concerned for the safety and well- being of our students and families. This is an unprecedented pandemic and we must work together to keep one another safe. We encourage families to follow the guidelines of the CDC and health officials to ensure limited spread of the virus in our community.
