Naugatuck Schools Food Service Contract Details Released
The administration is recommending that the Board of Education extend the contract of the current provider.
NAUGATUCK, CT — School administrators are recommending that the Board of Education extend the contract with its current Food Service Management Company (Sodexo) for another year. The company has handled the contract since 1995.
"The decision to renew must be at this time. In order to comply with state guidelines, the bidding process should begin as soon as possible. During the last two RFP processes, Sodexo was the sole bidder. Sodexo has been the Food Service Management Company for Naugatuck Public Schools since July 1, 1995. We strongly recommend to renew the Food Service Management contract with Sodexo for the period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021," school officials wrote in a letter to the Board of Education.
Sodexo guarantees that the food service program will achieve a financial surplus of $20,000 each year. This surplus must be used for expenses related to the operation of the food service program.
During the 2018-2019 contract year, the money was used to offset cafeteria equipment, repairs and maintenance.
