NAUGATUCK, CT — The Board of Education is seeking a $64.4 million budget for fiscal 2020-21, which increases spending by 3.6 percent or $2.3 million, My Citizen's News reports.

The increase is largely driven by a massive spike in health insurance costs and salaries are rising due to contractually obligated pay increases. The budget would increase the pay for substitute teachers. The school board did trim the school administration's budget request by $570,000.
