Naugatuck VFW Names 2023 Firefighter Of The Year

NAUGATUCK, CT — Naugatuck Fire Capt. David Proulx has been named "firefighter of the year" by Naugatuck VFW.

Proulx was honored during the VFW Post 1946 Citizen Awards Dinner held Sunday afternoon at the Crystal Room in Naugatuck.

Proulx came to the Naugatuck Fire Department following a 20-year career with the Hamden Fire Department, according to a post on the department's Facebook page. He was also a longtime member of the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department.

Proulx also served as a corpsman for the U.S. Navy, according to fire officials.
