NAUGATUCK YMCA OPENS SCHOOL AGE ASSISTED DISTANCELEARNING CHILDCARE AND PLANS FOR SUMMER CAMP
Naugatuck, CT –On May 18th, the Naugatuck YMCA will reopen it’s doors for a YMCA Assisted Distance learning School Age Child Care program. The Y recognized the need for child care assistance in our community during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Parents are working from home or on the frontlines and are working hand in hand with the school system to provide the best education possible for their children. The YMCA’s School Age program will offer working parents some assistance.

The program runs 7am until 6pm Monday through Friday and will follow Office of Early Childhood & CDC guidelines. The children will have much needed social time, education time, outdoor time and time to be a kid all in small safe groups. The program is operated under a state licensed child care program. Social distancing, health screenings, increased disinfecting of the rooms and equipment are only a few measures being taken by the organization to provide a safe environment.
Naugatuck YMCA Operations Director said “We are working to help our community as much as possible. Webegan in the early stages with our Seniors, Food insecurity, and our Members in Residence. It’s time to start helping our Youth.” One of the perks of holding this program is having the children available to share their input as we plan the Best Summer Ever. Summer Camp will look different, but our plans are shaping up to still offer a Summer Camp experience with all of the safety requirements in place. Every challenge will open an opportunity for staff and children to create new adventures. We are looking at the summer challenges as a way to use our creativity, and provide new experiences for the children in a safe environment. Summer camp is slated to begin June 29.
