Naugatuck's Former Schools Chief Lands New Job

NAUGATUCK, CT — Former Naugatuck Superintendent of Schools Sharon Locke has a new job. In a news release, Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) announced that Locke is the new Assistant Director of Professional Development and School Improvement (PDSI) services division.

Locke joins ACES after six years as Superintendent of the Naugatuck Public Schools.

“Dr. Locke brings over 24 years of experience in public education to the ACES. Her commitment to leadership and equity in education coupled with her extensive experience as a superintendent, chief academic officer, principal and counselor will enhance ACES ability to support and serve its school districts," said Dr. Thomas Danehy, ACES Executive Director, in a news release.

“I look forward to continue contributing to and supporting Connecticut’s public schools. ACES mission of transforming lives through education, innovation, and leadership, and its vision of creating an equitable and socially just world one life at a time is one that deeply resonates with me, and my commitment to equity. Our collective purpose is to ensure that each and every child thrives in our schools. I look forward to meeting with and listening to our districts’ leaders, learning what they need and how we can best support them,” said Locke in a news statement.

My Citizen's News reports that Locke will earn $87,000 for the part-time position.

"A Middletown-native, Locke has an in-depth understanding of the New Haven region having worked as an educational leader in Naugatuck and most recently as an adjunct professor for the University of Connecticut’s Principal Preparation Program in New Haven and Guilford," according to ACES news release.

She earned a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from New England College, Henniker, New Hampshire, and a Superintendent’s Certificate from Central Connecticut State University. Additionally, she holds a sixth-year degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Central Connecticut State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire.

Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) is the regional educational service center for New Haven and parts of Middlesex Counties.
