
The Naugatuck girls softball team won its first round game in the CIAC state tournament Tuesday night. The team defeated Hall High School of West Hartford 4-1.
Naugy was led by pitcher Nina Kosciusek (8-3) who hurled seven strong innings, striking out 10 and giving up just three hits along with four walks.
Kara Klimaszewski had two hits, including a triple, drove in a run and scored twice for the Greyhounds (15-7). Gillian Fortier had a double, an RBI and scored a run, while Sarah Chandler had a hit and an RBI.
Sydney Cotto and Jackie Aronin each had an RBI and a hit, while Amy Dietz had a hit and Erika Andreoli had a sacrifice fly.
