Nearly 3 Dozen Jobs Lost When Naugatuck Plant Closes: Report

Flabeg Technical Glass US Corp. reportedly is planning to close its Naugatuck plant early next year.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Thirty-four will be lost in the community when Flabeg Technical Glass US Corp. closes its Naugatuck plant early next year, reported the Republican-American.

The manufacturing facility, which is makes automotive glass, has been in Naugatuck since the 1920s. It is currently located on Church Street.

A slowdown in the need for automotive glass, in addition to the continuing impact of the coronavirus, are the reasons for the shutdown, according to the company.

At one time, the plant employed 300 people, and borough officials said they will work to find another company to occupy the plant's 45,000 square foot building.
