NAUGATUCK, CT β€” New details have been released concerning new Police Chief Steven Hunt's contract. Hunt, who served as a captain since 2014, was tapped to replace Christopher Edson, who served 11 years as chief.

The Republican-American reports that the contract runs through June 30, 2022 and he will be paid a salary of $123,000. Both Hunt and Mayor Pete Hess said the contract is a fair one and in line with what other area police chiefs receive, the Rep-Am reports.

Hunt, 45, who lives in Naugatuck, has been a police officer for 24 years, and will have a swearing-in ceremony 6:30 p.m. March 15 at Naugatuck High School.
