NHS Senior Class Graduation Parade [PHOTOS]
The senior class officers organized a reverse graduation walk/parade on Thursday morning.
NAUGAUTCK, CT - On Thursday, June 11, 2020, the senior class officers at Naugatuck High School organized a "reverse graduation walk/parade." The vehicle parade was held on the morning of their graduation.
Members of the Senior Class assembled at the High School in their decorated cars, and wearing their caps and gowns.
Members of the Naugatuck Police Department and the Naugatuck Fire Department led the parade. They line of cars and one motorbike left school promptly at 11:00am and traveled together to each school in the district that had been a part of their academic journey. The weather blessed the beginning of the parade with plenty of rain, but by the time the line of cars reached Maple Hill, the rain had stopped. Andrew Avenue teachers and staff came out despite the rain to cheer on the graduates.

The cars drove around the bus loop when possible or they just passed by on the road. In the interest of safety, the participants did not exit their vehicles. Drivers beeped their horns in celebration of the graduates, while they waved to say hello and said thank you to the staff of the elementary and intermediate schools, as well as City Hill Middle School. At Maple Hill, the procession weaved its way around the bus loop and then continued into the staff parking lot, where many members of the Maple Hill staff beeped their horns in celebration of the graduates.

Residents who heard the parade were able to beep back and wave when they saw them at one of the schools or traveling through town with the police and fire truck escort.
