Naugatuck Valley Community College Faculty Senate and the Center for Teaching (CFT) are joining to celebrate NVCC retiring faculty members and their expertise and achievements at 2pm on Tuesday, April 26 at the Fine Arts Center Leever Atrium. The celebration begins with a reception hosted by the college’s Center for Teaching (CFT). Immediately following the reception, attendees are invited to the Faculty Senate’s Last Lecture Series, featuring NVCC Professor Steve Parlato from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Playbox Theater.

Inspired by Professor Randy Pausch’s last lecture given at Carnegie Mellon University that provided wise counsel on how to live life to the fullest, NVCC’s Faculty Senate Last Lecture Series invites retiring faculty to offer sage counsel answering the question, “If this were my last lecture, what would I want students and colleagues to know, to hold dear, to remember, to ponder, and to treasure.”

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, the series continues this year with retiring Professor of English, Steve Parlato, delivering his lecture, "Always Open." Knowing Professor Parlato, the Faculty Senate is confident that the audience will surely laugh, maybe cry, but will certainly be enriched by Steve’s warmth, humor, candor, and brilliance.

We are ever grateful to Professor Parlato and all our retiring faculty and wish them only the best in their next adventures."

Current and former students, staff, faculty, and community members are invited to join one or both events. For those attending the Last Lecture Series, please RSVP using the link: Last Lecture Eventbrite
