Naugatuck Valley Community College Collaborating with Asnuntuck, Tunxis and Northwestern Community Colleges to Host Regional Job Fair for Faculty

WATERBURY, CT – NVCC has joined forces with three community colleges, Asnuntuck, Tunxis and Northwestern, to host a Regional Community Colleges Part-Time Faculty Job Fair on February 5, 2020 from 6-8 pm. The Job Fair will be held in the Tunxis Room at Tunxis Community College, 271 Scott Swamp Rd, Farmington, CT. Snow date is March 12.



So, if you like teaching, and wish to be a part-time faculty member (adjunct instructor) at a Community College, they are hiring for fall 2020. Job openings are available in a variety of academic disciplines for those interested in teaching online or on campus. A master’s degree or higher is required for most academic disciplines. Career-oriented programs and non-credit programs have varying requirements with an emphasis on field experience.

NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis commented on collaborative effort to attract part-time faculty and how it serves our students, “We are hopeful that this event will yield additional talent and quality to supplement our adjunct pool at NVCC. I commend Dr. Dresdner for her willingness to engage in this activity.”

“This North-West Regional Job Fair is a perfect example of the types of collaboration that our new regional structure is organically developing. By working together to recruit talent, our campuses are ensuring a robust pool of part-time faculty to teach the classes that are sought after by our students,” said Dr. James Lombella, Regional President, North-West Region, Connecticut Community Colleges. “Adjunct faculty serve a vital role in our colleges. I am excited for the opportunities that this event will create for these dedicated professionals as well as for the benefits they will ultimately bring to our students in the classroom.”
Academic Deans, Department Chairs, and Program Coordinators from each of the four colleges will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. Those attending are asked to bring their unofficial transcripts and resumes.

NVCC Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Lisa Dresdner will represent NVCC at the job fair. Commenting on this event, she noted, “Our part-time faculty play such a strong role in our students’ academic lives and in helping them reach their goals. We value their experiences and passion for teaching and learning tremendously, and this is an opportunity for prospective instructors to learn more about our programs and curriculum and where they might fit.”

Dr. Dave Ferreira, Dean of Academic & Student Affairs at Northwestern Connecticut Community College added, “We anticipate an increase in the need for adjunct faculty with the upcoming free community college program known as Pledge to Advance Connecticut (PACT). This event will provide us with a unique opportunity to talk with prospective faculty who may offer their talents to more than one college in our area. Our adjunct faculty typically work in industry bring valuable experience and industry insights to their curriculum.”
