Naugatuck Valley Community College Enrolling Students for Manufacturing Technology Programs that Lead to Area Jobs

WATERBURY, Conn - Through a robust schedule of on-campus manufacturing information sessions and facility tours Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) is reaching out to engage potential students in learning about career opportunities in Connecticut’s ever-expanding manufacturing sector. NVCC’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) staff will be offering in-person information sessions and tours of their manufacturing facilities at an upcoming Enrollment Event scheduled for Saturday August 21st from 9 am – 1 pm. The career-track manufacturing program offers hands-on access to state-of-the-art technology in preparation for area employment that includes paid internships and job placement assistance. Financial aid is available for students who qualify.

Students or incumbent workers participating in NVCC’s AMTC program earn up to 31 college credits in only two semesters. Participants earn certificates in the Fundamentals of Machine Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Machine Technology to prepare them for immediate employment at numerous local and regional manufacturing companies in positions such as inspectors, machine operators, and CNC machinists. For those seeking an advanced degree for transfer to a Bachelor’s program, all earned credits may be applied to an Associate’s Degree in Technology Studies.

AMTC staff are reaching out to unemployed/underemployed/dislocated workers, incumbent workers, returning veterans, graduating high school students, existing college students and the general population to invite them to learn about NVCC’s manufacturing program.

Deirdre D’Amore, Enrollment/Retention Specialist for NVCC’s manufacturing programs noted that “the information sessions really make a difference for potential students because it gives them an opportunity to see the whole picture of a manufacturing career, and how to plan for it.”

Students may start courses in August for associate degrees and certificates in Machine Technology with full- and part-time options. Students who enroll full-time earn a credential in just one semester.
