“Loving husband, father, grandfather, & great grandfather”

WOLCOTT, CT - Alan M. Sconziano, 83, of Wolcott, passed to his eternal resting place with our Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2020. He was the loving husband of Deloris “Tippy” (Ricciardi) Sconziano for sixty-one beautiful years.

Growing up in Waterbury, Alan attended Waterbury Public Schools and was a graduate of Crosby High School. Upon graduation, Alan proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Alan worked at Meyers Supply in Naugatuck as Vice President of sales for over forty-two years until his retirement in 1999. He then worked part time at Chase Parkway Memorial for many years.

He was a member of the Waterbury Musicians Union and, for three decades, played the drums with many local bands. His love for music was equaled by his passion for sports and devotion to family. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He dedicated most of his free time volunteering as a coach and umpire, and was a member of the board at the Wolcott BAW. He then coached the Wolcott Mickey Mantle baseball team for 6 years. But his true love for sports came not as a player or a coach, but as a spectator watching his own sons followed by his granddaughters and grandsons. He simply never missed a game. Grandpa Sconz was the #1 fan for all his grandchildren. From the baseball, softball, and soccer fields of the Wolcott BAW, McCabe Waters Little League, Terryville High School, Bristol Central High School and St. Paul Catholic High School…there he was cheering them all on with an enthusiasm and passion that was second to none.

Besides his beloved wife Tippy, Alan leaves behind to cherish his memory his five children, Judith Jurzyk and her husband Dr. Ronald Jurzyk of Bristol, Jean O’Keefe and her husband Thomas O’Keefe of Terryville, Mark Sconziano and his wife Diane (DePoto) Sconziano of Torrington, Janice Greene and her husband Dr. Kevin Greene of Bristol and Alex Sconziano and his wife Dr. Lori (Paulella) Sconziano of Wolcott. He also leaves behind his fourteen beloved grandchildren, Kevin O’Keefe and his wife Stephanie (Barone) O’Keefe, Ali (Sconziano) Doe and her husband Nathan Doe, Caitlin O’Keefe, Jordan Sconziano, Rebecca Jurzyk and her fiancé Connor Soltis, Kelly O’Keefe, Jaimee Sconziano, Rachel Jurzyk, Jacob Sconziano, Tyler Greene, Ryan Greene, Kyle Greene, Nick Sconziano, Joey Sconziano, and his three great grandchildren, Cameron O’Keefe, Esther Rose Doe and Weston O’Keefe.
