Obituary: Alexandra 'Cooky' Kovaleski, 77, Of Naugatuck

She worked for many years as a hairdresser and also worked at Southbury Training School for 10 years before retiring.

Alexandra "Cooky" Kovaleski, 77, died peacefully on July 31, 2023 at Beacon Brook Health Center.

Cooky was born October 17, 1945 in Waterbury, CT daughter of the late William and Catherine (Bull) Kovaleski. She graduated from Naugatuck High School and worked for many years as a hairdresser and also worked at Southbury Training School for 10 years before retiring.

Cooky loved her many friends, the beach, the ocean and family gatherings at Highland Lake in Winsted.

Cooky is survived by her sister and brother in law, Mary Jane and Howard Vagt of Naugatuck; her brother and sister in law, William and Mary Kovaleski of Sun City, AZ; her nephews, Howie Vagt and his wife, Judi; Paul Kovaleski and his wife, Yesenia and Mike Kovaleski; her nieces, Cathy Vagt; Joanne Sears and her husband, John; several great nieces; two great-great nieces and Diana Regoli, her friend and devoted caregiver for many, many years. In addition to her parents, Cooky was predeceased by her longtime friend, Sondra Matcheson.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, August 14, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet directly at the cemetery. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
