He left Portugal as a teenager and set on a journey to Venezuela where he met his wife.

Alfredo Chipelo, 85, of Naugatuck entered into the gates of heaven on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Ligia (Morales) Chipelo.

Alfredo was born in Monte Murtosa, Portugal, on July 19, 1937, son of the late Joao and Carolina (Mala) Chipelo. He left Portugal as a teenager and set on a journey to Venezuela where he met his wife. They immigrated to the United States in November 1963 and made Naugatuck their home.
Alfredo worked in construction for decades until his retirement. He’s a member of CT Laborers Union. Alfredo was well known among the Portuguese Community for his specialty roasted suckling pigs cooked in his backyard brick ovens, and he generously shared them with family and friends.

Besides his beloved wife Ligia, Alfredo leaves behind to cherish his memory his three children, Beatrice Chipelo (Robert Guerrera) of Wolcott, Alfred Chipelo Jr. (Stacy Pyshna) of Naugatuck, and Rosa De Sousa (John De Sousa) of Naugatuck. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jose Chipelo and his wife Kathleen of Torrington, John Chipelo and his wife Connie of Naugatuck, and Maria Vieira and her husband Jose of St. Augustine, FL., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Antonio Chipelo.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with handling Alfredo’s funeral arrangements.
