Obituary: Amelia, “Mimi” (Longo) Guerrera of Prospect
"Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother"

Amelia, “Mimi” (Longo) Guerrera was reunited in heaven with the love of her life, her husband John R. Guerrera.
Mimi was born on January 18, 1935 in Pontelandolfo, Italy to the late Saverio and Maria (Longo) Longo. In January 1947, she emigrated to the United States along with her mother and two sisters, reuniting with her father and making her home in Waterbury, CT. She graduated from Mary Abbott school and was most proud of becoming a United States citizen, along with her sister Margaret, in 1956. She worked at Timex in Middlebury, Peter Paul in Naugatuck and retired from Unisys in Waterbury.
She loved being surrounded by family and friends, loved a good party, always had a joke or colorful story. Everyone was made to feel welcome in her presence and at her table.

Mimi and John loved to travel and go to the casino and treasured time spent with family and friends at yearly vacations to Narragansett and Misquamicut, RI beaches. She was known for her delectable Italian food and desserts especially her gigantic antipasto, pignoli cookies and Christmas jelly cookies. She was an avid gardener with an especially green thumb for orchids, gardenias and African violets. She could rescue and bring new life to any plant. Mimi also loved the New York Yankees especially Derek Jeter.
She leaves her children, Susan (Joseph) Piacentino and Judith (Salvatore) Perugini with whom she made her home, her beloved and light of her life granddaughter Alexis Rose Perugini, her step grandchildren Maria Piacentino, Barbara Douma and Joseph Piacentino, Jr., nine step-great grandchildren and many loved nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Josephine Santos and Margaret Massaro.

The family would like to thank the staff of Apple Rehab of Watertown, Waterbury Hospital, Dr. Sandeep Tiyyagura and Dr. Yuliyla Riat. Special thank you to Dr. Essam Nakhla for his years of care, compassion and kindness.
Arrangements: Funeral will be held Thursday September 21, 2023 at 8:45 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury to St. Anthony’s Church 4 Union City Road, Prospect for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
