Obituary: Anthony “Babe” D’Agostino, 95, of Waterbury
Babe served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Infantry. He managed the family business, Brass City Sales for over 45 years.

Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather
Mr. Anthony “Babe” D’Agostino, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Rose (Carosella) D’Agostino.

Born in Waterbury, on July 29, 1926, Babe was the son of the late Giuseppe and Lucia (Bartoli) D’Agostino. He was a 1947 graduate of Wilby High School and a proud WWII Army Air Corp veteran. A recipient of a Bronze Star, Babe served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Infantry. He managed the family business, Brass City Sales for over 45 years. He was an accomplished athlete and played baseball, football, and traveled throughout the state competing in many duckpin bowling tournaments. He was an avid fan of the UCONN basketball teams, enjoyed traveling, and trips to the casino, both in CT and Vegas. He was a funny, outgoing guy, devoted to his family, and happiest watching his grandchildren play baseball and softball.
In addition to Rose, his beloved wife of 70 years, Babe is survived by his daughters Ann Marie Bell and her husband Thomas Bell, III of Waterbury and Donna Marcelynas and her husband Michael “Noah” Marcelynas of Watertown; his four grandchildren Thomas Bell, IV of Waterbury, Nicholas Bell of Waterbury, Nicole Marcelynas of Watertown, and Michael Marcelynas, Jr. of Lowell, MA as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John, Nicholas, and Robert D’Agostino and his sisters Grace Finateri and Gloria Vaccarelli.

Babe’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Middlebury Convalescent Home as well as Waterbury Hospital for their compassionate and excellent care shown to Babe and his family.
Babe’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 9:00am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass at 10:30am. Family and friends may visit with the family from 9:00-10:00am on Wednesday. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
