Obituary: Anthony P. Klimas, 81, of Naugatuck

“Beloved husband, brother & uncle”
NAUGATUCK - Anthony P. Klimas, 81, entered the gates of Heaven with his wife, Yolanda, by his side on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Yolanda (Amodio) Klimas.

Anthony was born in New Haven, CT on December 19, 1942, a son of the late Peter “Casy” and Elenor (Parzych) Klimas. He was a graduate of Eli Witney Technical High School in New Haven. He worked as a mechanic on foreign cars for the Road & Track Company in New Haven, where he received a Doctor of Motors degree from the Citroen Corporation in New York, and also attended Naugatuck Community College. Anthony served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Anthony’s first employment was with Winchester U.S. Repeating Arms Company in New Haven for 19 years, then with United Nuclear Corporation (UNC) in New Haven, finally retiring after 18 ½ years from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT. Anthony was the co-founder along with his wife, Yolanda, of the Have a Heart Foundation in Naugatuck, raising money for people in need of heart transplants. Anthony enjoyed a good meal; he had a sweet tooth for cookies and candies. He and Yoland enjoyed spending their anniversary in Yarmouth, Cape Cod, taking rides throughout CT while enjoying lunch and dinners at various dinners and restaurants. He was a communicant of the Pentecostal Born Again Christian Assembly.
Besides his wife, Yolanda, of 57 years, he leaves his sister, Carolyn Klimas Corso of N. Haven, his favorite sister-in-law, Nancy Moody, his nieces and nephew that were dearest to him, Lisa Emanuel, Maryann Smith, Roseann Cordova and Robert Velez and his wife, Yume (O’Harira) also several more nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, his dearest friends, Otto and Deb Curran. He was predeceased by his siblings, Wiliam “Bill” Silkowski, Sr. and his wife, Patricia, nephew’s, William Silkowski, Jr. and Thomas (TJ) Silkowski, his niece, Karen Silkowski, and his brother-in-law, Vincent James Amodio, Sr.

The family would like to thank Anthony’s healthcare providers for their compassion and care given to him: Dr. Mira Rho of St. Mary’s Hospital, homecare workers: Dawn (Case Worker), Lisette (Nurse), Erica (Occupational Therapist), Amateo (Physical Therapist), and Anthony’s healthcare aides: Jasmine, Valem Jerry, Vee, Maria, Brenda, and Hailey.
Arrangements: A funeral service with the cremains present officiated by Pastor Carmen Corbo of the Pentecostal Born Again Christian Assembly will be held, 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Bury with full military honors will follow the service at All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. A calling hour will be held Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. till the time of the service at the funeral home.
