Obituary: Antonio “Tony” Pinto Lucas, 73, of Naugatuck

He immigrated to the United States from Portugal in 1966 and made Naugatuck his home.

Naugatuck, CT - Antonio “Tony” Pinto Lucas, 73, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rose (Errico) Lucas. He was born in Gralhos, Montalegre, Portugal on August 6, 1950 to the late Joao and Joaquina (Pinto) Lucas. He immigrated to the Unites States in 1966 and made Naugatuck his home.

Tony was a heavy equipment operator prior to retirement; he was extremely hard working and an excellent provider. He enjoyed hosting family and friends, cooking, flea markets, tag sales, and scoring a bargain. He loved spoiling his grandchildren, and they reveled in his love.

In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by his daughters Lea Ann Hogrefe and her husband Christopher of Watertown, and Danielle Loschiavo and her husband Michael, of Londonderry, NH, and his son Anthony Lucas and his wife Carrie of Southbury; grandchildren Jacob and Kelsey Hogrefe, Jeremy Loschiavo, and Ava and Nathan Lucas. He is also survived by his sister Teresa Pinto (Lucas) Assuncao of Spring, TX, uncle Francisco (Maria) Pinto and aunt, Emilia Pinto; in-laws Angela Montavon, Phyllis (Ernest) Marchesseault, Felice (Suzanne) Errico, Frank (Vickie) Errico, and John (Carol) Errico. He leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Tony was predeceased by his brother Adelino Pinto Lucas.

Visitation will be held on Monday December 11, 2023 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/ Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
