Born in Waterbury on October 22, 1940, Bud was the son of the late Arthur and Lauretta (Prenez) Dostaler, Sr. He was a graduate of Crosby High School, class of 1958. Bud was a manager for Pathmark Grocery Store in the Grocery Department for many years. After his retirement he worked for the City of Waterbury Parking Authority for several years. Bud loved sports and his passion was softball. He played ball for 13 years and was an umpire for the league for 33 years. Bud was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants football team. Bud was also a horseracing enthusiast and enjoyed visiting different tracks.

Bud was quiet and reserved unless the opportunity arose to add his quick wit and humor to any conversation. Generally reserved, he enjoyed a night with friends and family playing cards. He, along with his wife Margaret, traveled extensively trading their timeshares for great destinations all over the country.
