“Loving wife, mother, grandmother & sister”

Barbara J. (Gambucci) Pronovost, 65, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Michael G. Pronovost for forty-four years.

Barbara was born in Waterbury, CT on March 27, 1958, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Zappone) Gambucci. She was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in 1976. She worked as a certified nurse’s assistant (CNA) at St. Mary’s Hospital and later as a phlebotomist at Waterbury Hospital. She also did hospice work for the Visiting Nurses Association. Barbara enjoyed sewing, needle point, reading, music and cooking Italian specialties. She cherished spending time with her family, most of all her grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Michael, of Waterbury, Barbara leaves her daughter, Michelle Whipple and her husband, Joseph of Lebanon, ME, son, Christopher Pronovost and his wife, Jamie of Waterbury, CT and five loving grandchildren, Kaityn, Leah, Autumn, Giavanna and Maximo. She also leaves her siblings, John Gambucci (Annette) of Waterbury, CT, Marion Buonocore (Eileen Dibartolomeo), Alice Miller (and her late husband Bill) along with her beloved brothers and sister in-laws , several nieces and nephews, and many close friends including, Janet and Diane and her very special neighbors, Lisa and Joseph and Lismarie. She was predeceased by her favorite cat Fluffy.

Arrangements: Barbara’s funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. A calling hour will be held before the funeral service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
