Obituary: Catherine A. Zuzick, 78, of Naugatuck

Cathy was a pillar of the community and throughout all of her life, she never met anyone who was a stranger.

Naugatuck, CT - Catherine A. Zuzick, 78, wife of David T. Zuzick, died peacefully January 4, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Cathy was born May 25, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, NY daughter of the late Anthony and Claire Pope. Cathy was raised in Harrison, NY where she graduated from Harrison High School, Class of 1963. Cathy worked in real estate for the past 46 years, most recently as a broker associate with ReMax Rise. Prior to that she was an owner and broker associate of Realty Executives. Cathy was a pillar of the community and throughout all of her life, she never met anyone who was a stranger.

Cathy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed camping, traveling and sightseeing with her family. She also enjoyed being a band parent and a member of the PTA, where for many years she volunteered as a school field trip chaperone for all three of her children. Cathy was a die-hard NY Yankees fan, having gone to her first game when she was 2 years old.

In addition to David, her husband of 56 years, Cathy is survived by her daughter; Michele Zuzick; her daughter and son in law, Arlene Zuzick Green and Casey Green; her grandchildren, Mattingly Green, Kennan Green, Briona Green and Amber Ross and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Cathy was predeceased by her son, David C. Zuzick and her brothers and sister.

Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Cathy’s life Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is kindly asked to meet directly at church. A private family burial will be held on Thursday at St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and to honor Cathy’s memory, donations are requested to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
