Charles was born in Waterbury on November 26, 1942, son of the late Peter and Clara (Genova) Guglielmo. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Kaynor Technical High School. Charles served his country honorably in the U.S. Army reserves during the Vietnam era. His first job was for the Connecticut DOT Highway Department. He started as a Sheet Metal Apprentice at Allied Heating & Air Conditioning and then became a Journeyman and was Shop Foreman at M.J. Daly. He also worked at Premier Roofing Service and Silktown Metal Roofing. After 50 years in the trade, he retired from Sheet Metal Local 40.
In 1974, Charles built a home in Southbury where he and Polly lived until 2005, then retired to Charlestown, RI. Charles enjoyed spending the winters in Mesa, AZ from 2006 to 2012, where he learned the art of jewelry making, was active in the billiards league and frequented Oreganos for his favorite pizza. In 2013, he and Polly began wintering in Fort Myers Beach, FL. He loved the beach, exploring different parts of Florida and biking around Indian Creek. He also enjoyed boating, clamming, fishing, playing ping pong and tennis, and was an avid golfer. Charles loved to travel, especially cruises, and saw many places including Alaska, the Panama Canal, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and numerous European countries. He also loved Cape Cod and visited every year. Charles will be remembered for being a jack of all trades and always lending a hand to anyone who needed his help, asking nothing in return. He loved music and could often be found blasting the Eagles Greatest Hits. Charles was known for his story telling and making people laugh with his many jokes and one-liners. He would talk to anyone and everyone. He will be loved and missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
Besides his wife, Polly, he leaves his daughter, Carrie Harper and her husband, Chris, of Farmington, CT, two step grandchildren, Carsonlee Kucharski and her husband, Andrew, and Katie Harper, all of Cheshire, CT and his sister, Carol Dubroski of Naugatuck, CT. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Quinn.
