Obituary: Charles 'Chip' Schofield III, 53, Of Naugatuck
Chip dedicated 20 years to the Naugatuck Police Department, where he served as a school resource officer and retired as a detective in 2019.

Charles "Chip" Schofield III, 53, of Naugatuck, beloved husband of Melissa (Gallant) Schofield, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday April 11, 2024. Chip was born on August 4, 1970, in New Britain, CT.
Chip dedicated 20 years to the Naugatuck Police Department, retiring in 2019 as a Detective. For the past five years, Chip worked for the Watertown Board of Education as armed security at Judson School. While with the police department, he served the Brough of Naugatuck in various capacities including as the Naugatuck High School Resource Officer, a DARE officer and Police Explorers Advisor. He would participate in the Closer to Free Ride, biking for miles to raise funds for Smilow/Yale Cancer Centers.

Chip enjoyed coaching the Union City Little League softball team as well as Wolcott travel softball. He was a member of the Masonic Shepherd-Salem Lodge #78 in Naugatuck and was a loyal NY Yankees fan.
In addition to his wife of 29 years, Chip leaves behind his daughters, Kyrstin, Erin and Megan; his brother, Platte Clark and his wife Kathy; his parents-in-law, Ron and Jan Gallant; his brother-in-law Ron Jr.; several nieces and nephews, a great nephew and his furbabies. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Schofield II.

Arrangements - Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow Street. A Masonic Service will conclude visitation at 7 p.m. On Monday morning, Chip’s funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. and process to St. Francis of Assisi Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Grove Cemetery.
