Obituary: Chong-Ja Ethier, 72, of Naugatuck

A longtime resident of Naugatuck, Chong-Ja attended church at Saint Francis of Assisi.

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF CHONG-JA ETHIER

NAUGATUCK – Chong-Ja Ethier age 72 of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side at home on Friday, January 8, 2021. She showed tremendous strength and perseverance throughout her long battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of Robert Either.

Chong-Ja was born December 18, 1948 in South Korea the daughter of the late Pan Seong Kim and Pan Soon, Seong. Chong-Ja became a United States citizen in 1974 with dreams of making a better life for herself and her family. A longtime resident of Naugatuck, Chong-Ja attended church at Saint Francis of Assisi. Hard work was no stranger to Chong-Ja. She retired from Risdon as a machine operator after 25 years of dedicated service. She will be forever remembered as a wonderful and generous cook. She found great pleasure in cooking for her family, friends and neighbors. Everyone raved about the dishes she would bring to holiday gatherings and every day meals in her home.

Left to cherish her memory and legacy, besides her husband of 47 years, Robert, are her daughter, Jean Ethier; son-in-law, Timothy Bledsoe; and granddaughters: Corinne, Jordan, and Ella.
She also leaves two brothers-in-law: John Ethier and Thomas Ethier, his wife, Joyce of Thomaston. She also leaves close family in South Korea: a sister, Kim, Bok Soon, brother-in-law, Moon, Young Ju. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and a number of extended family members across two continents.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Ethier will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St. Waterbury CT 06705. All COVID #19 guidelines and regulations will be strictly enforced.
