Obituary: Claire E. Ardry, 87, Of Beacon Falls

Claire was raised in Naugatuck, graduated from Naugatuck High School and worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block for 15 years.

Claire Emily (Litke) Ardry, 87, died peacefully on June 28, 2022 at her home surrounded by loving family. Claire was the widow of Kenneth L. Ardry, Sr., whom she was married to for 58 years.

Claire was born September 25, 1934 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late Albert and Freida (Yulke) Litke. Claire was raised in Naugatuck and graduated from Naugatuck High School. Claire worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block for 15 years and she was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Beacon Falls.

Claire volunteered in the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital, she enjoyed playing scrabble and was a member of the Winnebago Club. Claire loved spending time with family and friends, especially with her grandchildren and her cat, Sage.

Claire is survived by her children, Charlene Straznitskas (George), Kenneth Ardry, Jr. (Laura), Richard Ardry (Michelle), Cindy Fitzmaurice (Bill), Michael Ardry (Michele) and Eileen Lauer(John); her grandchildren, Travis, Cody, Lindsey and Annie Ardry, Melissa and Billy Fitzmaurice, Sarah Castaldi, Hannah and Sydney Lauer; her 4 great grandchildren; her sister in law, Fran Ardry and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Claire was predeceased by her four brothers and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls. Everyone attending is kindly asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Claire’s memory, donations are requested to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls, CT 06403 or to Beacon Hose Company #1, 35 N. Main Street, Beacon Falls, CT 06403.
