Obituary: David Roy Young, 82, of Prospect
He served many years with Mayor Bob Chatfield as Treasurer for the town of Prospect.

PROSPECT, CT - David Roy Young, 82, of Prospect passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. He is the loving husband of Edith (Joeckel) Young of over 60 years. Dave was born at home in Prospect, a son of the late Leon and Olga (Keiper) Young. David was born, raised and died in the town of Prospect.

David graduated from Cheshire Academy and attended Fairfield University. He proudly served his country as an MP in the Army from 1958- 1962, while being stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life Edith. David and Edith began their family in Germany and then moved back to David’s hometown of Prospect. They built their family home here. Dave loved woodworking, gardening, photography but most importantly his family. David was very family centered, always his joy and his life. He was a Bank Trust Officer at local banks in the greater Waterbury area for his entire career. After his retirement he began his privately held company, serving as a court appointed conservator for numerous clients throughout the greater Waterbury area. He served many years with Mayor Bob Chatfield as Treasurer for the town of Prospect. David loved his Lord and the Cornerstone Church in Cheshire family. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Left to cherish his love and memory and honor his legacy are his wife Edith, daughter Doris (John) Doucette of Waterbury, son Earl (Lenae) Young of Old Saybrook and daughter Inge (Fran) Sokolowski of Naugatuck , 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, some nieces and nephews and many friends.
David was predeceased by his brother Robert and sisters Elaine Wilson and infant sister Dorothy.
A private graveside service with full military honors took place in Prospect Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a future date. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home is honored to be assisting David’s family with his funeral services. A good heart has stopped beating but lives on in those it loved.
