‘Loving mother, daughter, sister and friend’

NAUGATUCK — Debra Marie (Filippone) Martin passed away peacefully, with her son by her side, on March 4, and Violet (Massaro) Filippone. She was a 1971 graduate of Wilby High School. Debi held various roles with the procurement departments of Uniroyal Chemical, Chemtura and Addivant before her retirement in December, 2021 from SI Group.

Debi was an avid traveler and enjoyed the theater and listening to live music, as well as spending time at the beach. She was always up for an adventure.

There is nothing Debi loved more than being with family and friends. Her great-nephew referred to her as “Happy Debi” when he was younger, and there is no better way to describe her or to remember her.

Debi leaves to cherish her love and memory her beloved son Jonathan Martin and his wife Sonja; her sister Janice (Filippone) Plocha and her husband Ed; her brothers Joseph Filippone and wife Peggy, and Michael Filippone and wife Jennifer; along with her nieces and nephews whom she adored and who adored her, Christine Plocha and her children Tyrese and Skyla, Joelle (Filippone) Greaves and JB, Joe and Juli Filippone.

She leaves behind many cousins and friends whom she held dear, especially her best friend Joanne Migliarese, and friends Cindy Scanlon and Janice Natale, all of whom aided in her care during her brief illness. She also leaves behind her special and loyal kitty “Missy V.”

The family would like to thank the staff at VITAS for the care they provided to Debi and for the compassion they showed to her and the entire family.

Per Debi’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. The family will have a celebration of Debi’s life at a later date at a location more befitting to Debi’s spirit.
