Obituary: Dr. John V. Pito, 63, of Middletown

Dr. Pito completed his residency at St. Mary's Hospital and was employed by Yale-New Haven Health; he leaves family in Naugatuck.

Middletown – Dr. John V. Pito, 63, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at his home. He was the husband of Jessalyn (Purcaro) Pito.

Dr. Pito was born October 13, 1958, in Providence, RI, the son of Anna Maria (Maffetone) Pito and the late Dr. Vincent Pito. He grew up in Cheshire where he was educated at St. Bridget School and graduated from Cheshire High School Class of 1976. He furthered his education at Boston College and obtained his doctorate at St. George's University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at St. Mary's Hospital and was employed by Yale-New Haven Health.

He was known as an avid skier, golfer, and poker player who enjoyed bourbon and cigars.

Besides his wife and his mother, Dr. Pito is survived by his brothers Dr. Louis Pito of Cheshire, Vincent Pito and his wife, Zully of Boston, MA and Dr. Richard Pito and his wife Ruby Loo of Toronto, Canada; his step-son Adam Purcaro of Naugatuck; his granddaughter Alexis Purcaro of Naugatuck; his brother-in-law Michael Purcaro and his wife, Noelene of Las Vegas, several nieces, many friends including his best friend of fifty years, Dave Edgar, as well as his fur-baby dog Chance.

Arrangements – Visitation for Dr. Pito will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 10:45 am and proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget School, 175 Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410.
