Obituary: Edward P. Mitchell, 78, of Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, CT - Edward P. Mitchell, 78, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at his home in Bethlehem, Connecticut. He was the husband of Vivian (Satula) Mitchell of 42 years. Born in Waterbury, CT on March 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Philip and Irene (Johnson) Mitchell.

Edward lived in Bethlehem for most of his life. He was a talented tool and die maker by trade and the co-owner and President of E&E Tool in Harwinton, CT for over 30 years. Ed retired in 2005 and loved the simple things in life, spending time outdoors, walking, sitting on the porch with Viv and anyone who happened to stop by. You could find him in the woods with a chainsaw in his hands most days.

A farm boy at heart, Ed loved his gardens, feeding the birds in the yard and his epic woodpile. Ed & his tractor would often be seen taking care of the private dirt road he lived on. He enjoyed family trips to Lake George and Saratoga, loved spending time with all his girls, as he would say. He also loved playing cards and taking trips to the casino with his group of friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, Vivian, he is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Stroker of Bethlehem and Karen Mandes of Bozrah, and four grandchildren, Spencer and Lindsey Stroker, Zoe and George Mandes, and his great granddaughter Layla Stroker. His three siblings Henry Mitchell, Marylin Bensavage and Diane Fitzgerald. He was predeceased by his son Bruce E. Mitchell.
