WATERBURY –Ellen Andrea (Hansen) Dion age 81 passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Autumn Lakes Nursing Home in Waterbury. She is the widow of Roger W. Dion.
Mrs. Dion was born on September 28th, 1942, in Waterbury CT, the daughter of the late Irving Hansen and Grace McHugh Hansen. She was a lifelong resident of Waterbury and earned her bachelor's degree in teaching. Ellen worked most of her adult life in many jobs. She was a 5th grade teacher, owner of The Village Deli in Cheshire with her husband for 15 years, a cook for Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour, and was a manager for the Barnes and Noble Café in Waterbury. Ellen loved to read, acquired thousands of books, enjoyed crosswords, puzzles, cooking, and baking. What was most important to Ellen was her family and she spent as much time as she could with them all.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children: Eric Dion and his significant other, Dana Robinson-Rush of Wolcott, CT, and his two step daughters; Amber Lynne Law and Brittney La Piccirella, Terrance Dion and his wife, Sharon and their daughter, Norah of Southington, CT, Kevin Dion and his wife Ellen and their children, Owen, Ayla, and Ian of Trumbull, CT, Renè Dion and her husband Sean Donnelly and their children, Quinn and Elle of Wethersfield, CT.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ellen’s family on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury.
