Beacon Falls-Evelyn H. (Hassen) Groth, age 93, beloved wife of the late Gustave H. Groth, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday October 5, 2021.

Mrs. Groth was born in Waterbury, CT on September 30, 1928, the daughter of the late Alec and Sophie (Glinski) Hassen. She was a lifelong resident of Beacon Falls, and retired as Executive Secretary from Peter Paul Company. Evelyn was a devout parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Polish American Club and Beacon Falls Senior Center, where she served as treasurer. She was a member of the Democratic Town Committee and the Naugatuck Housing Authority, where she served as recording secretary. Evelyn was also the first female Police Officer in Beacon Falls at age 23.
She leaves her daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Groth of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Lisa Gaj and her husband Dan of Conway, NH, and Sheryl Feducia and her husband Tom of Beacon Falls; her loving grandchildren, Lindsay and Alec Feducia; and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her brothers, Chester and Stanley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 8, 2021 at 1:45 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Beacon Falls. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. directly at the church, prior to the beginning of Mass. Facial masks will be required at the services. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
