Evie was born in Waterbury on May 22, 1935, daughter of the late Michael and Philomena “Mae” (DeVito) Carpinella. Evelyn worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, an oral surgeon’s office and ultimately Connecticut Valley Hospital from which she retired. Until her retirement, Evie worked her entire life while raising a family and returning to school later to attain bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Having been raised in a loving Italian household, Evie provided such a home for her family. Her passion for gardening, decorating and cooking created a secure, welcoming and comforting place for her family and all those who had the good fortune to visit. The family attributes whatever success achieved in their lives to Evie’s devotion to their care and education.
