Florence Terni-Coppola, 81, formerly of Prospect passed away peacefully while surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Worthington Manor. Florence was the widow of David O. Terni Sr. and Anthony Coppola. Born February 14, 1941 in Waterbury, Florence was the oldest daughter of the late William and Ernestine (Vanasse) Miller.
Florence had a deep and abiding Catholic faith which sustained her during difficult times. She was widowed very young while expecting her long-awaited child. She didn’t let this embitter her. Florence counted her blessings and went on to raise her son with strength and faith. She had been a cook for the clergy of the Basilica of The Immaculate for over a decade. She was always involved with her parish, volunteering much of her time and energy in various ways.

Not only did Florence enjoy cooking but she was a published poet. Her faith and generous spirit comforted the reader through the words of her poetry. Florence also painted and sculpted clay. More than anything, Florence was a beautiful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy.
Left to cherish her love and memory are her son David O. Terni Jr and his wife Karen of Prospect and her grandchildren Meghan Terni of Prospect, and David Terni III and his wife Susan of Virginia; as well as her great grandchildren Mason, Owen and Oliver. Florence also leaves her brother William Miller of Fl., sisters Carolyn Stack of Old Saybrook and Sharon Barna of Watertown and her sister-in-law Ida Coppola with whom she was very close.
